Can you achieve more by focusing on one project at a time? This week, we FOCUS. How do we focus? Pursue ONE project at a time. Eliminate unnecessary details. Through dedication and perseverance. In Week 1, we made room for this Human Design experiment in our lives. In Week 2, we made a list of projects and opportunities we were attracting. In Week 3, we determined if we had the energy to pursue those projects and opportunities. Now, in Week 4 (the final week), we choose ONE project/opportunity that gave the strongest positive body response. This is what we’ll focus on this week. Make a list of actions that need to be performed for that project. If you’re a Manifesting Generator, this should be easy because you have the ability to make the most efficient task lists. You know exactly what’s necessary and what isn’t necessary in the steps to perform any task. Where Focus Goes, Energy Flows Now that you have your list of actions, dive into it with gusto and with laser focus. When we focus our attention on a project, the energy of the project expands. I’ve seen this in my life several times. When I moved to a new city with a goal of teaching bellydance for the first time, I laser focused on this wish. I made cold calls to find places to teach. I put up flyers. I told people what I was interested in doing. There was nothing else at that time that had my attention like that pursuit. And it paid off. I attracted the right people who put me into the right places and soon I was teaching 6 bellydance classes a week as well as weekend workshops, and had hundreds of students. Put Aside Extra Tasks or Projects Any extraneous activity or another shiny project that comes your way this week should be set aside until you complete this list of actions. Once the list of actions is completed, pick another project to focus on. If you have a long-term project (months or years), practice devoting time and energy to it every day, in some way. It should be the lead project even if you must tackle other projects at the same time. Notice Your Circadian Rhythms It’s also important to respond to each task using your body wisdom and Inner Authority. Some days or at specific times of the day you may not have the energy for a particular task. Circadian rhythms determine our levels of alertness throughout the day. If you pay attention to your body, you'll notice when you have the energy for each task. Multitasking Is Okay If you’re a Manifesting Generator, you MUST multi-task. It’s a unique part of our Human Design and without it we can become frustrated and lose efficiency. But remember that multi-tasking means doing multiple tasks simultaneously, not multiple projects. It’s fine to tackle several tasks on your project list in the same day (or hour). Focus On What You Enjoy Another way to focus is to spend more time doing things you’ve enjoyed from this challenge. For example, I’ve been putting a lot more focus into my musical lessons on the mbira and dumbek; doing my yoga divination every day; and learning rock painting. Focusing on these body-driven activities helps me exhaust my sacral energy so at the end of the day I feel satisfied and sleep through the night. JOURNAL PROMPTS Where is your current focus? Can you respond from the body instead of the mind? This week, we RESPOND. How do we respond? From our bodies. With a grunt for Yes or No. From a place of Divine timing. Responding comes from your Human Design Inner Authority. Although we all have different Inner Authorities, they all basically originate from one of two actions: (1) using your body or (2) using a sounding board. Respond From The Body Instead Of The Mind Responding from the mind often sounds like this: I should...; I must...; Everyone's expecting me to ...; I'm already obligated myself to.... Instead of responding from the mind, this week we are practicing responding from the body which relates to how we FEEL and how much ENERGY we have for a particular task. If you're a Generator you're probably responding from the Sacral center, even if you're not aware of it. If you grunt Huh or Hmmm, or Mmmmm a lot, then you're already on the right track! Follow those grunts. They are your most authentic response. They are telling you whether you have the energy or interest to pursue something. Ask Yourself Yes/No Questions Practice asking yourself yes/no questions this week to determine your needs and desires. Use your body/feelings/grunts to get your answers. Here are some example questions: Do I have the energy for this task right now? Do I need to rest now? Is this creating frustration? Is this creating satisfaction? Use A Sounding Board Sometimes, we also need a sounding board to make a decision. This is when we have a good friend or partner we can talk to and we run through all of the options verbally. Once we've heard ourselves go through the options and choices, we can make a decision. In either case, whether you are using your body or a sounding board, ask yourself if the action you're considering will lead you to frustration or satisfaction. Practice Saying No Practice saying NO to people and projects that don’t resonate with your energy. Also, pay attention to your inner sense of timing rather than external deadlines. Instead of just pushing through your to-do list, check in with your natural response to find out if it’s the right time to pursue something (even chores like cleaning the kitchen). Gather the list of people, projects, and opportunities you attracted last week and respond to everything on the list using your Inner Authority.
